A Deaf Dog’s Sweet Bond With an Orphaned Baby Goat Melts Hearts

A couple who runs a farm in Arizona took in an orphaned baby goat, but it turned out to be their deaf dog who really claimed the little one as her own.

The couple, who go by “Farm of Milk and Honey” on TikTok, shared the touching story of how their deaf Pit Bull, Evie, took an orphaned goat kid under her wing, a kid the couple later named Branch.

On November 24, Farm of Milk and Honey posted a video introducing the orphaned baby goat on their TikTok account.

The video’s caption read, “PLEASE watch this video for 60 seconds so my wife thinks bringing THIS home was a good idea.”

In the clip, the husband explains that a neighbor had called asking for help with an orphaned baby goat.

“With the owner having very few options… of course we stepped in to help,” he says, confirming that they decided to adopt the kid for good.

Once Branch arrived at the farm, the resident dogs took an immediate liking to him, and the feeling was mutual.

“He really likes the dogs. And Evie is thrilled to have a new baby,” the caption reads, alongside footage of Evie sniffing and checking out Branch.

The couple also shared that Branch would have an entire pack of dogs watching over him until he’s old enough to join the farm’s goat herd.

In a follow-up video, the couple explains, “When we brought this orphaned goat home, our ultimate hope was that one of the female dogs would claim him… And Evie did right away.”

The clip shows Branch taking “his bottle like a champ” while spending virtually his entire day glued to Evie’s side.

Evie and Branch’s story took off on TikTok, with one video alone racking up 2.1 million views and 230,000 likes.

Farm of Milk and Honey shared that Evie has completely embraced her role as foster mom to baby Branch. The goat kid reportedly follows her everywhere and stays close by her side almost constantly.

“He loves all of the other dogs too, but Evie is a clear favorite,” the couple says.

Despite being deaf, Evie hasn’t let that slow her down one bit, she keeps life on the farm lively and her owners constantly entertained.

Her larger-than-life personality more than makes up for her lack of hearing. Her owners have shared some of her more memorable farm antics, including drinking milk straight from the cows, trying to befriend coyotes (and getting nipped on the ear for her trouble), swiping snacks meant for the kids, and getting pushed around by other farm animals.

But beyond the mischief, her owners emphasize just how big her heart is, and how readily she welcomes every stray that ends up on their farm.

She even took in a sick calf once, well before Branch ever came along.

Since plenty of people wondered whether the pair would stay together long-term, the couple confirmed that “Yes, Evie and Branch will get to stay together forever here.”

They added, “Evie is loving all of the attention and positive comments!! Thank you all so much! Evie and Branch are doing AMAZING!”
