Trying to secure some exclusive cuddle time from a highly distracted mother is an absolute sport for any pup. And a fluffy little canine recently discovered this universal truth while playing outside. Instagram page @miss_maya_thebernese documents the life of an adorable Bernese Mountain Dog puppy named Maya, and in this video, showed her vying for her mom’s kiss. She stares directly up at her mother’s face with expectation, but her mother is way too busy supervising the rest of the energetic litter on the lawn.
Bernese Mountain Dog puppy convinces mom for a kiss
The video opens with Maya sitting directly in front of her mother in a shaded spot on the grass. While the other puppies explore the yard, Maya keeps her eyes locked on one thing. Mom. The on-screen text captures her mission perfectly: “Mom can I get a kiss?” At first, the answer appears to be “not right now.”
Mom glances around the yard, keeping an eye on the rest of her puppies. One of them is busy playing with a red ball nearby, and that seems to have her attention. Maya waits patiently for a moment, then decides patience alone may not get the job done. So she stands up on her hind legs and gently paws at her mother’s neck fur. Still no kiss.
For a second, Maya looks away as if she’s considering a new strategy. Then she goes right back to staring up at Mom, making her case without a single bark. Eventually, her persistence pays off. Mom leans down, gives Maya’s face a quick sniff, and follows it up with a brief kiss. Mission accomplished. Or at least it should have been.
The Bernese Mountain Dog puppy isn’t quite satisfied. The moment Mom lifts her head again, Maya stretches up on her hind legs for a second time, reaching all the way toward her mother’s face so she can return the affection herself.
Maya finally gets the kiss she wanted, only for Mom to move on with her day almost immediately. Viewers loved every second of it. Many joked that Maya simply wanted extra attention, while others couldn’t get enough of the sweet family moment.
