Marge, the rescue dog, does not realize that her dad just saved her life, and it is as sweet and hilarious as it gets. In a video from @largemargedog on Instagram, Marge is sleeping on the edge of the bed, with just enough of her body hanging over the side to make her owner heroically step in and “save” her life. But the best part of the video is that Marge could not look less concerned.
Dad pushes the dog to ‘safety’ after she hangs over the bit a little
As the rescue dog’s dad walks over to her, he tells her how he saved her life, narrating the scene with full seriousness. He tells her, “Marge, darling, you’re gonna fall off the bed. Ma’am, your thickness — you’re kind of hanging over the bed a little bit, ma’am,” adding, “I worry that you, uh, you might — you might fall.” He then gently nudges her farther onto the bed, adding, “Let’s just scoot you in. Oh, a little bit. There we go.”
From there, he gives himself credit for the rescue, telling her, “Okay, yeah, you’re welcome,” repeating, “You’re welcome for saving your life. I just saved your life. You’re welcome.” He then wishes Marge “Good night,” as he gives her two long kisses.
Marge, for her part, looks only mildly aware of any of this, all while her dad talks like he just prevented a major accident. But Marge is probably thinking about how she was sleeping perfectly fine before all this started.
The caption under the video jokes, “I don’t think Marge appreciates that I just saved her life!” — and maybe she does not, because when dogs sleep deeply in a place they know well, they often feel so safe that they barely react to small movements or touches from someone they trust.
Marge knows she is home, safe and sound with her owner. In fact, the way this dog is at ease, knowing very well her life was nowhere in danger, is really telling of the relationship she shares with her dad.
