A Golden Retriever named Bruer reminded his pregnant mom that he was her first child by adding a toy to her hospital bag. His mom, Abby Caines, shared the video on Instagram via @abbycaines after she walked into the room and found one of his toys placed with the things she had started packing for her hospital stay before giving birth. It was the sweetest thing a dog could do, and it also showed that the dog was preparing for the arrival of his baby sister.
Golden Retriever wants pregnant mom to have his toy for big day at hospital
The video shows hospital items spread out on a rug, including a black bag, baby and personal care supplies, socks, a small fan, and other delivery-day essentials. Right there with everything, the Golden Retriever had kept his yellow stuffed toy, and the moment touched his pregnant mom, as she wrote, “I wish I was kidding because my heart and pregnancy hormones can’t take it… my sweet boy,” in the caption.
The on-screen text explains the scene with, “started putting things together for my hospital bag and I walked in today and found one of my dogs toys he had put with my stuff.” And honestly, how could one prepare better than that?
It appears that Bruer has been invested in the baby prep long before the big day, as another video from January shows him sniffing through items meant for his soon-to-be baby sister. The on-screen caption joked, “my dog acting like a TSA agent every time I add something to his soon to be baby sisters stuff.” Meanwhile, the text under the video added onto the joke with, “drug dog but for baby stuff lol.”
Many viewers saw the toy as the Golden Retriever’s way of helping and comforting his pregnant mom, with one commenting, “He says don’t forget, I was your first baby.” Another emotionally added, “Stop it he wants to give it to baby sister.”
Whatever his reason, Bruer saw his mom getting ready for something important and decided she should not go without his toy. And clearly, that small gesture said plenty.
