A foster dog named Elroy attempts to walk outside in this Instagram video. It features a dog mom giving an update on the Raglan Farms foster Beagle she has had for 34 days. She and her husband try to take Elroy out on a walk, but he becomes scared and starts shaking. Despite the unsuccessful attempt, the uploader believes in the pooch. She mentions in the caption, “Progress for Elroy has been measured in tiny moments, like taking food from a hand or choosing to lie near us.”

For this foster dog, going for a walk ‘barely’ is a big progress

In a touching dog video on Instagram, a “resilient” foster Beagle named Elroy is attempting his “very first walk.” The clip begins with his foster mom sharing an update on the dog’s progress after 34 days with her family. She explains that the dog was “nervous” and “shaking” when they took him outside for his first walk.

She also says they plan to take Elroy outside more often to help him become comfortable with the outdoors. The video then shows footage from Day 34, with the foster mom encouraging the Beagle to walk. However, she soon picks him up after realizing he is scared.

Elroy tries to stay on the grass or hide between the trees. He continues to appear hesitant even after another dog approaches him. Despite his fear, he stays close to his foster mom. In the caption, she wrote, “Today’s walk wasn’t perfect, barely a walk, really. But courage doesn’t always look like confidence. Sometimes it looks like taking a few hesitant steps forward.”

Viewers also shared supportive messages in the comments section. “He’s melting in to you – he clearly has learned to trust you. That’s progress,” one user wrote. Many others described the Beagle as “brave.”

Since it was uploaded, the Instagram post has received more than 6,000 likes at the time of writing.
