Wally’s story now has the happy update many viewers hoped to see. The video shows that the 8-month-old pup, shared in an Instagram video by Los Angeles animal advocate Rita Earl Blackwell, has been adopted after returning to the Palmdale Animal Care Center. The post said his previous family could not find housing that allowed his breed, leaving him back in care in Los Angeles, California, where his story quickly moved people online.

The Instagram reel was shared by @rita_earl_blackwell, whose bio says she is an animal shelter volunteer in Los Angeles, helping pets be seen and saved. The edited caption opened with the update that Wally “has been adopted,” then described him as an 8-month-old neutered boy weighing 50 pounds.

The reel begins with Wally sitting beside a staff member inside the facility. The on-screen text says, “He was just returned to the shelter today.” Another shot looks back at him six months earlier, when he was much smaller and being held by staff. The text explains that he was surrendered back because his family could not find housing that allowed his breed.

The clip then shows Wally walking through the building and getting attention from staff. Another on-screen text says his surrender notes listed him as good with kids, cats, and other dogs. Another scene shows him inside a kennel with Koda, who was also adopted as a tiny baby and returned.

The final shots move outside the Palmdale location. Text on the screen asks viewers to help Wally find a new family or rescue, while another line says he was waiting at the Los Angeles County Palmdale facility. The caption asked people to share, tag, and comment to help him get seen.

Fans reacted with heartbreak and hope in the comments. One wrote, “He’s so adorable that he doesn’t even look real.” Another added, “Fingers crossed for Wally and his kennel mate for furever homes soon???????.” A third said, “He’s perfect. I will never understand how people just discard their pets. Praying he finds a family that deserves him.” Someone else wrote, “Oh no! He’s so cute. I hate how confused he looks. Like not this place again.”
