Sometimes a tiny person just needs a giant friend to sit nearby while they process big feelings. In this clip by @campbells_family_dobermans, Sergeant the Doberman shows he is a natural nanny. Izzy, a little baby, was feeling a bit fussy on the nursery floor before this big dog arrived. Emily Campbell shares their bond on Instagram, noting that Sergeant just instinctively shows up when things get overwhelming for Izzy. This breed is famously loyal and protective, often forming a deep connection with the smallest family members.

In the video, Izzy is sitting on the carpet surrounded by toys, but her mood is far from happy. She lets out a whiny cry because not being able to use words to express is tough work. Sergeant doesn’t wait for a command before he plops down right next to her. He rests his face on one of her teddy bears to offer a calm, solid presence. It seems to work almost immediately.

She stops crying for a second to watch her mom filming the moment. Emily shares in the caption that this temperament (that Sergeant shows) cannot be faked or rushed. Things get a little wiggly when the big dog moves a paw near the little baby. Izzy cries out again, but she quickly lets out a long, quiet sigh.

Sergeant turns his head away slightly as if he knows he should give her some space. But he stays put, acting as a perfect distraction from her bad mood. Izzy watches him sniff the carpet for a few seconds. Eventually, she reaches out her tiny hand to touch his face, and he stays still and lets her explore with her hands. She starts her daily “ear checks,” rotating his ear with one small, curious finger. Sergeant raises his head to make eye contact before lying down on his side.

He rests his heavy head right against her back. Meanwhile, Izzy turns around to pat him, and he puts a large paw near her. She lets out a happy squeal, and the tantrum is officially over. As her mom says, she claimed him early, and he never questioned it. One viewer called them the textbook definition of a precious moment.
