New apartments usually mean finding new cozy spots and adjusting to the new layout. But sometimes the design doesn’t cooperate with a short(ish) pup. Sunny is a Pit Bull from Brooklyn who just wants to see what’s happening on the street. Her family at @funnysunnynyc noticed she was struggling to peek outside in their new place. She would sit on her donut bed and stretch her neck as far as it would go. It looked a little heartbreaking. This video shows this dog just desperately trying to reach that window ledge. The angle just wasn’t working, but that’s when Dad comes up with a plan.

After craning her neck, Sunny looks back at her human as if pleading for a solution. So her dad grabs a drill and some plywood to fix the problem. What else is a pet parent supposed to do? Sunny stays right there the whole time to supervise the construction. He is building her a custom step, basically a raised platform just for her. There’s even a little wobble that had to be fixed during the sturdiness test.
And then comes the big reveal near the glass window. Sunny walks into the frame with her tail going a mile a minute. She definitely knows this raised platform is just for her. She puts three legs on the new chair but needs a little boost from dad to get fully onto the step.
At first, she just sits and wants to be petted by her dad. She doesn’t immediately realize the view is right there. But then dad taps the glass, and she finally turns her head to look out. This sweet dog and her brand new window seat are definitely the stars of the video. The clip got over 11,700 likes because pet people totally get it.
One person in the comments mentioned they had a bay window installed just for their pups. Another “pittie” owner said their girl has a similar-looking stool. It is just one of those things you do when you love your pet. Dad got plenty of kisses for all the hard work. And now Sunny can spend her days watching Brooklyn go by without straining her neck.
